The Story Behind the Inspiration

Cameron Edwards is a Christian pianist and public speaker from Deer Park, Illinois. His favorite genre is traditional Christian hymns; but his repertoire also includes classical pieces, romantic melodies, patriotic standards, and seasonal favorites. Cameron loves improvisation, and has written arrangements of several well-known hymns. Not only does Cameron’s broad repertoire distinguish him from his peers, but he also offers his services free of charge to senior care facilities as a means of giving back to the community. He says, “Music is more than a hobby; music is ministry, and I am honored to share this gift with others.”

When Cameron was born, the doctor took one look at his hands and said, “He has piano fingers!” It would be several years before Cameron actually started tickling the ivories. He began his training in Alfred’s Piano Method at age 7, and he was taught classical and traditional Christian music for over 15 years. He has performed concerts at senior care facilities since 2013 and has also played at community meals, weddings, funerals, graduation ceremonies, and church services. One contact shared these words about Keys to Inspire’s ministry:

“We are so thankful to YOU Cameron! You are not only a top notch musician but an inspiration[al] speaker with a deep love for the Lord.” - Sandy

In 2015, in an effort to promote brand awareness and increase his music ministry’s outreach, Cameron developed a name for the ministry: Keys to Inspire. Keys to Inspire’s purpose statement is, To exalt Jesus Christ, encourage the community, and spread the gospel through music that motivates. Cameron explains, “Every song which is played — really every note — is taking listeners on a journey. The goal is to lead them to Jesus.”

In the summer of 2015, Cameron worked with Illinois Media Group to produce Keys to Inspire’s first CD, My Song of Praise. A line from “He Looked beyond My Fault and Saw My Need,” featured in the cover song, “The Reason He Came Medley,” formed the basis for the title: “Amazing grace shall always be my song of praise/For it was grace that bought my liberty.” Cameron’s arrangement includes “We Are the Reason,” “He Looked beyond My Fault and Saw My Need,” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” The CD features 14 tracks with a mixture of classical, patriotic, and hymn arrangements. Here’s what Cameron had to say about his CD project:

“When I was putting together the CD, I was looking for a common thread which ran through all of the music. This was challenging considering the mixture of classical pieces, hymn arrangements, and a patriotic medley. I finally settled on My Song of Praise because the lyrics of the songs run together with an anthem of praise to God for His power, greatness, name, redemption, and grace. Each of these qualities has had a profound impact upon my life, and I wanted to make the title personal.”

Cameron continues performing concerts on a regular basis, and his greatest joy is to share the good news of Jesus Christ with his guests. (Seeing a smile on the faces of his concert guests runs a close second!) Cameron is looking forward to exalting Jesus Christ, encouraging the community, and spreading the gospel through music that motivates in the years to come!
